The images complement the words. Sometimes replacing. Assume, in some cases, an absolute, almost sacred, when they represent, or you want to represent the real without any possibility of refutation. Yet they are a compromise. Transference through the photographer sends a message. The critic asks a formal opinion (the technique is accurate?), The viewer a subjective opinion (that image can touch my emotional chords?), The scholar a detached view (which happens to target the right or left? What happened just before or just after?).
Whatever the registry with which we proceed to the reading of a photograph, it always tells a story. Through a series of shots you could tell a convincing story, "the observer" to surrender to the suggestion, the memory and imagination. Mantovani
